"Nothing can match the dynamic vitality of a steam locomotive at full throttle!"........quote from a 1956 Trains Magazine.
Must be OPS...Old Phart Syndrome...
I'm sitting here listening to and watching this in the still ambiance of my home.
No cinders, smoke, or ash.
No seismographic rumbling of the ground beneath.
And, yet.....the eyes get moist every time I see a video like this.
It's so hard to explain to a different generation.
Be thankful the experience exists at all today!
Then, too, it could be a memory of standing in a field with Dad in 1959 awaiting and experiencing firsthand the passing at speed of N&W 611 on a fan trip...."The last run of 611" (Yeah, ....right!)....and hearing some new 'blue' from Dad as he realized he just shot the last frame of his film before the engine reached us!
Ah, well, ......'Play it again, Sam!"

Looking forward to seeing this same type of scene soon with Santa Fe 2926... www.nmslrhs.org
Now that was way cool....
Hang on to your hat Harry! She's comin' in Hot!
Would not want to be hanging on to the end of the platform that day.
