I have a 70s comet number is 8801 its never been good at puffing smoke it makes smoke but dosent blow it out the stack very well what should i look at?i tried changing the resistor but didn't help. I put a 27 ohm in for the resistor even tried lionel premium smoke.
I've had the same issue with mine, ever since I got it new. A few years ago I sent it to the late Boxcar Bill, to have TMCC and sound installed. He did a great job, and also improved the smoke unit. I think he enlarged that small hole in the base of the unit, where the piston forces air through. It is not super by any means, but it is some better than it was.
