Here are a few pictures of a couple kitbashes using Lionel EP-5 Shells. The painted one is a PRR E2B Electric, this was done using the EP-5 shell and a AHM C-Liner drive. Not the best puller but defiantly a neat piece you don't see on everyone's layout. The unpainted is a New Haven Jet using EP-5 shell, plastruct, and Keil-Line sideframes and an All-Nation Drive, that was specially made for this application.

And now, John, you have no excuse but to get busy and build 2 or 12 of these asap instead of stealing more hubcaps from your neighbors....

the AHM drive is a single double shafted motor in the middle of the truck driving both axles.i have two of these power monsters under this loco which was fine for the 2.5 x  12 foot layout i've had for years. now that i have moved and have a 14x45 foot area with an additional 18x10 foot area at one end this needs to have more power!

probably all nation drive with a pittman can motor

Agree, great job; I'm fascinated with reworking these heavy and difficult cast shells and would love to have seen some step shots of the E2B while in process to see how you did it, where you cut it, angles etc..

The EP-5 is equally cool, though you know you'll have your hands full applying that McGinnis scheme if indeed that's where you're going, few care for the three versions the PC black they wore, either before or after the Park Ave tunnel fire and their exile to Morrisville

Again excellent work and thanks for posting.

Pete

thanks for all the great reviews. i appreciate all your comments. both models were built in the mid 80' and yes atlpete the jet has been on the back shelf of the paint dept.... have the decals and the paint just looking for a "round to it". also have 5 american standard nh cars to build lets see i'm 64 now and with a layout to build tons of pennsy to build maybe around my 105th birthday ????

greg elems yes the lionel jet is short if you look closely at the pics you will see that 2 lionel bodies sacrificed their lives for 1 scale jet. the splices are in the area by the side vents
