I'm kind of intrigued with that Camaraderie Bar & Grill all-wood structure that Menard's is offering as a limited exclusive.  Once the train budget gets replenished (surgery on the pooch kind of drained it a bit), I may look into placing an order  I don't have any wood-construction buildings on my layout at the present time, but I'm sure willing to give a wood ready-built a try.

I always wonted to buy one of their structures that I read about on these pages. Unfortunately I would always forget to order when I got home.

Now when I'm reading my OGR I will be at home and make the call. Who knows maybe I'll find something for everyday life when I'm on their site.

Hey I got to pay for shipping any way, why not a shirt or two.

I always said that I like the adds almost as much as the articles.

After seeing the W/S buildings and scenery materials, the Lionel sets (no HO, N, or G), the 1:43 diecast cars, etc., etc., etc., for the last two Christmas seasons at Menards, I had suspicions that someone 'upstairs' in the string-pulling department was closer to the O3R hobby than coincidence.

Menards is 1 mile from our house here in Davison, MI.  It is THE home improvement store for us.  Excellent!

I hope others will soon have a Menards close by....but not so soon-and-fast that they outrun their bottom line and begin a decline as sometimes happen with success.

What kind of card would that be? Do you have a retired military ID card?

Rob

It really has nothing to do with being "retired military". All you have to do is go to your nearest VA facility, bring your DD214 "discharge paper" with you, and apply for a VA ID Card. After filling out all the paperwork (actually done on a computer at my VA Hospital), they will take your photo, then present you with your very own DEPARTMENT of VETERANS AFFAIRS photo ID card.

I was drafted into the Army in late 1964, and released/discharged in very late 1966, and upon requesting the VA Veterans ID card, they suddenly realized that I was eligible for VA medical benefits! So, not only did I get my VA photo ID card for "discounts", I now get all my asthma medication from the VA hospital and have a VA Doctor's check-up every 6 months.

Here in Ohio, veterans (or active duty) can have "Armed Forces" designated on their Ohio Driver's License, if they so desire.  All that's required is to have an original copy of the DD214 with you when you go to apply or renew your driver's license.  They verify the info and then the "Armed Forces" designation is imprinted right next to the "Organ Donor" imprint (if applicable).  Saves carrying an extra card in your wallet.

BTW Menards sells the best benchwork material...... hands down!

Agreed Rick (and I've bought plenty of both).  While I'm not really into Menards train offerings, 80% - 90% of my layout materials, and about 20% of my house, have come from them. The delivery guy loves coming here, because I always invite him in to see the layout.

I hope they come out with a Menard's diesel for seperate sale.

The bridge looks like the big one at the Milwaukee Lionel Club layout, but the moving highway must have been somewhere else.  The pickup trucks with operating headlights look interesting too.   I ordered the wooden bar & grill already and am planning on the department store and maybe the factory.

I just placed an order for the Quaker State filling station and the door factory, plus a couple of freight cars with loads.   I thought that shipping and handling seem a bit high but the discount covers most of that ($25 for shipping plus $8 for handling.   These look to be high quality items at a good price to go on my holiday layout under the tree.   Then to the main layout when the under the tree layout is put away.
