During the warmer months, a steam powered service known as "The Jacobite" is operated between Fort William and Mallaig in Scotland. This is the territory which inspired the Hogwarts Express of Harry Potter fame. During the 2009 season, Class 5 45231, The Sherwood Forester, was one of the locomotives assigned to the train. In this video, we watch and listen as 45231 accelerates from a station stop at Glenfinnan and works hard up the formidable Beasdale Bank. Plenty of good stack talk here:

Enjoy,

Here's video aboard a July 2012 tour from Kings Cross to Edinburgh and return. A Deltic - revered almost as much as steam - powered the northbound leg and Tornado handled the return trip. The North American equivalent of riding behind a Deltic would probably be a Train Master. The Deltic under load even sounds similar to the TM:

Since this is another on-board video, I decided to piggyback it on the Sherwood Forester sequence instead of starting another thread.
