At the Big E, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of TRAINZ, Scott Griggs, in person.

After we introduced each other, I told Scott that I thought his business was one of the best in the World of Model Trains.

Why?

About 3 years ago, I sent on online communication through the TRAINZ website that I was interested in a product made by a manufacturer no longer in business. The product was O Scale metal baseball figures made by Kramer Products back in the 1980s and 1990s.

After sending that communication, 6 months went by and I heard nothing.

Then, I got an email from TRAINZ that the Kramer baseball figures were available at a price that was about half as much as what I expected to pay.

To say I was thrilled is a gross understatement.

Here is my team of Kramer Products ballplayers on the field at my Polo Grounds:

When I asked Scott at the Big E how he keeps track of all the specific train items his customers request, he said he buys a lot of train collections and all the requests are put into his computers to keep track of them. Then, when he gets a match, the email goes out to the happy customer.

More recently, I ordered a specific passenger car from TRAINZ. They shipped it out the next day, and I received it 2 days thereafter.

Scott and TRAINZ, IMO, are set up, and really know how, to keep their customers happy by providing extraordinary service to fill their customers needs.

TRAINZ is also one of our Forum sponsors, all of whom have provided me with excellent service.

One more thing that TrainZ did that blew me away.

In the box with the passenger car I bought from them was a $5 bill. Can you believe that?

I surmise that maybe they overestimated the shipping cost and reimbursed me $5 in cash for it.

Now, that is, IMO, the epitome of honesty.

Also, the basic key to good business and salesmanship is very simple: identify your customers needs and fill them. So far, I've done business with about 10 of our Forum sponsors and all of them have done that.

So, this thread is a Salute to all of our Sponsors including TRAINZ.
