I have the separate sale HHP-8, and one issue I have run across is that it's fairly light and struggles with a larger consist.  Since it has a full 8A Cruise Commander and the standard Mabuchi motors, one would assume that it should be able to pull a decent sized passenger train without too much strain.  I had nine 18" cars on it, and it manages on the level, but I suspect that any grades will challenge it, I can see it struggles a bit to get rolling.  My Genesis with two of the same sized motors and several pounds heavier have no issue at all with the same nine cars.  Since it has pretty much the same drive train and electronics (another cruise commander), I feel the HHP-8 could do a lot better.  I decided that an extra pound of weight would make a significant difference, and it does.

Given that was the case, I figured I'd take a "shot" at solving the problem, note the weights.

I own two of these models, one from the set and the other one that was sold by itself. I thought that the locomotive was a bit on the light side and wouldn't pull very well. As it turned out either one pulls 8 of the MTH Amtrak Amfleet cars. However Amtrak had retired this model last year so now we need MTH that has already made the European model of the Amtrak ACS64 make the Amtrak model that passes my home along with the last of the AEM7s that we all be retired by early 2016 they have said.

John if you would rather save your bullets for the Zombie Apocalypse, sheet lead is another good solution.  Go to your local Lowes or Home Depot and ask for chimney flashing.  It looks like an Abraham Lincoln stovepipe hat.  When you cut it apart you end up with one large sheet and four strips of lead that are about 1/32 thick.  Cut them with tin snips to the shape you need, and glue the laminations together with rubber cement.  (You can also punch holes with a punch and then locate them on the frame with #2/56 screws.)

I've also used 00 birdshot in the fuel tank (no speaker on my loco) with some success.
