I was reading a news article today about GE wishing to buy Alstrom, and saw this picture of a TGV (Manufactured by Alstrom.) with really cool paint job. I thought that others here might like to see it too.

NICE
that is pretty cool.
I imagine it's digital printed vinyl rather than a paint job though. the blending and variations of color would be quite labor intensive for a paint, even if sprayed.
I would bet they used a plastic "wrap" on the train set.
Neat.
However it's done, it's eye-catching. Thanks for posting.
I think this was the special paint / wrap for the trainset (V150) that broke the world record in 2007 on the LGV Est corridor. This was unlike a regular TGV Duplex. It had fewer cars & had powered axles on some of the passenger cars (as in the newer AGV) in addition to the locomotive. The opening for the pantograph for the leading unit was also covered to reduce drag.
Here is the link on Wikipedia on this unit.

Joueff made a HO version of this trainset soon after the event.

Thanks Naveen. That was an interesting Wikipedia article.

Incidentally, I believe the GE deal under consideration is for acquisition of Alstrom's power/steam turbine division, and not their transportation division that manufactures high speed rail equipment.
Breezinup is correct. GE will not be aquiring the transportation side of Alstom, just the rest of it. It's not that GE doesn't want the business, it's that the French/EU will not approve of GE taking that division along with the rest of the Alstom. I knew about this proposed aquistion 3 days ago-- I work for GE Aviation, so i get all these news bites in my corporate emails.
Yes, the article mentioned that. It was just that I thought that others may enjoy the photograph of the cool looking TGV.
Incidentally, it also mentioned that Siemens is also joining in, and offering to give Alstrom 50% of its train business as a part of the deal.

Thank you, I also think it's paint job is neat.

Nichole,
do you this article electronically or could you tell me where to look? I work for Alstom Power in the U.S. The info I read said that GE wasn't interested in the RR side and Siemens wasn't even mentioned.
I love to see another take on what's potentially going on.

Update - I found the article online - thank you.
That undulating paint job makes one think of a snake, a worm, or the Loch Ness
Monster. I wonder about friction between catenary and wires at 350 MPH!
That's fantastic looking. Those TGV trains are amazing. I took the train from Paris to London and also took the non-TGV high speed train within the UK. Such a great way to travel - faster than airplanes and way more comfortable. It's a horrible shame that here in the mighty US of A our "free market" system can't seem to figure this out. Trains wouldn't be an answer for say LA to NYC but LA to SF or Chicago to Minneapolis or NYC to DC they'd be so much better than our horrible airline system.
