Annoying Hummer.

I have two NS Heritage LEGACY SD70ACe's in a Lashup with the Lionel Legacy system. The lead engine of the Lashup has an annoying humming noise when it is at rest with power to the track while awaiting the Legacy startup command. When Legacy starts the Lashup the engine with the annoying humming stops. Any ideas on why it hums when waiting for Legacy to start the Lashup. It is very annoying listening to the Hummer. Should I delete the Lashup and start over with a new Lashup using the same engines again? Thanks for any help with this.

What is the Lionel product number of the problem engine? Some of the earlier Legacy models had a hum when they were idle.

Does it sound like Morse code? DOT-DOT-DOT, DOT-DOT-DOT?

I have a Legacy 0-4-0 that does the same thing. A recent thread went into this, don't recall if a solution was found.

No Bob. It just has a continuous hum until I activate the Lashup which means that I have to activate it even when I do not want to too just to stop the hum and listen to the idle sound which is more tolerable. If no one has a solution today I think I will delete the current Lashup and do a fresh Lashup to see if that solves the problem.

The Product Number Gunrunnerjohn is 6-28333. One engine was purchased 7/21/2010. The second engine was purchased 10/2/2014. Both have the same Product number. I do not know which of the two dates the hummer was purchased because I did not mark the purchase date on each engine.

Well, the 6-28333 is the original modular Legacy design, it's known for having a hum when shutdown.

The Lionel Legacy Command Set was purchased on 8/24/2010. It has never been updated. Maybe that is causing the humming.
