Like you.I had l had been looking for 10 years in Phoenix since going to O scale as it would be nice to work together vs trying oneself to build a small home layout. Together a few can find a good size space and have fun for many years. Now, being tired of the super hot in the valley we are moving next year up 5000 ft. higher and 15' cooler year round. It is a smaller town so I guess i'll definitly have to do it myself.
But good luck as Houston seems a good size town and do think Peco river brass was somewhere in texas. LOL as Texas is BIG. and not knowing/rmembering where it used to be as he had a great layout. I think one who wants to do O scale size trains one must compromise, "if you can't beat them then join them", by converting to 3 rail as there are a lot more of those guys then us 2 railers. But then can yu find a scale 3 rail club.

I made the same inquiry to the local train store (Papa Ben's) a couple of months ago as I'm trying to relocate to the Houston area. There's only a 3-rail club down there located in a shopping mall. On the off chance I relocate to Dallas, there's DFW O Scalers -- a small club with nice people.
There are only a few of us in Houston that deal with 2 rail O scale. A year ago a few of us had a meeting to reform HOGS again (Houston O Gauge Society) which was a very old club that slowly just faded away. There are only a few 2 Rail layouts here. One is David Ray on the west side of town and Charlie Morrill on the northeast side in Kingwood. Both gentleman are getting up there in age. There is also a 2 rail trolley based layout near the medical center and a dual gauge O/On3 layout of Craig Brantley's on the north side in Spring. His is predominantly narrow gauge with a sole loop of dual gauge track and one siding for standard gauge to run on. That's it here. I have a small shelf switching layout in outside 3rd rail. It would be nice if there were a few more 2 railers. We are severely lacking.
Slight correction to the last message. The name of the O scaler in Kingwood is Ted Doyle. Charlie (me) has moved 400 miles further north. The model railroad hobby is very active in the Houston area. The month of November into early Dec. featured week end open houses of layouts in all scales and states of construction.
Charlie (formally of Humble TX)
Sorry about that Charlie. I knew that. I was thinking Ted and wrote your name instead.
No prob Fred. Ted and I are meeting up for the O Scale meet in Fort Worth on Oct. 11. Are you going to be there?
Charlie
Thanks guys for taking the time to post. I live here in Humble, TX and have a 20 ft. x 4 ft. shelf layout I just started in 2-rail. I used to have a big HO layout in The Woodlands but am now into the O.
Again thanks... maybe there is some hope!
Chuck
