Handling, packaging and shipping for $10 sounds like a pretty good deal.

I'm sure small businesses have overheads just like MTH and Lionel. There are packaging costs and time to pack and then post to also take into consideration.

What do you feel is a reasonable value to add for these additional costs?

If you are a private individual where time and packaging may not be an issue to some extent then perhaps just actual postage may be reasonable.

Actually, Sales takes your order (for this item), enters it in the computer, generates and invoice that goes to accounting, unless you pre pay.  Then someone walks to the storage area and pulls the product with the invoice sheet.

It goes to shipping.  Placed in a box they bought or recycle packed and labelled.  Left for FedEx to pick up.

Parts are similar.  Lots of paper work, inventory management and pulling of the part.

So there are more than one employee involved.

MTH does use FEDEX, and small package via fedex already start at a high price.  I have also realized for remote locations FEDEX or UPS surcharge makes USPS cheaper sometimes.   G
