Any Jonny Appleseeds out there? Need help mounting trees.....

I have my layout pretty much in place as far as track, highway, and structures go. Now I need to mount my trees - most have bases and would free stand on my indoor/outdoor carpet but tend to knock over rather easily. I have a LARGE box with hundreds of trees and I would like to use at least some of these. Any suggestions as to how you have successfully mounted trees to carpet would be appreciated. THANKS!

I use a little pad of Velcro. Easy to move/remove. Can't see the Velcro. If you can see it, you can easily trim it and/or tuck some lichen around the base like I do. You can find small squares at CVS, Office Depot, etc, etc.

Take a sharp carpet knife. X marks the spot, then place under the carpet. then fold the carpet over the base.

I drill a 1/16 inch hole into the bottom of the tree and cut the head off of a finish nail for all tree mounting. Easy if you wish to move them around the layout at a later time too...
