Any trick on installing Atlas O trucks 2 tank car bolsters? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

After I returned from the Atlas O clearence sale a few weeks ago, I tried to mount the atlas O trucks to the tank car bolsters. I am having a difficult time at tightening the truck screw that came with the trucks to the tank car bolsters. I thought the screws are self tapping? I think the tank car bolsters are made of die cast metal rather than plastic.

Anyone have pointers on how to tighten down the screw ? Do I need to get a different screw altogether? Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Atlas tank cars don't use the self-tapping screws. The tank car screws are metric pan head machine screws, 2.5 mm diameter by 6 mm long over the threads (i.e., not counting the head).

You don’t use the screws the come with the trucks.

Not on tanks nor the pulpwood flats
