When the 2014v2 catalog came out I took note of the 6-82024 Log Loader as something that'd be neat. But now that I actually have several of the log dump cars now I'd love to get one, but it seems that it hasn't shipped yet, nor been in any of the 2015 catalogs. Does anyone know if Lionel will make this or not?

The log loader was in the 2015 v1 catalog, page 129, $339 MSRP. That was an item I wanted to order myself, but the train fund was exhausted before it made the final order list. I do not see it in the 2015 v2 catalog? Will ask my LHS if I can still order it.
I could not find it on the shipping list, but I have been having trouble with the new website and shipping list since they changed it all.
This was cancelled. I too wanted one.

Great, now what am I going to do with all these logging cars. Sigh.
Mike W. is correct, I asked my LHS about it today and they said the same thing.
Maybe there was a problem with it they need to work out before production? I am going to hang on and wait, hoping they may still make it at a later time.
Hope they didn't cancel the saw mill in the Vol.1 2015 catalog. That would be a good place to use the log cars.
Its been made before (in modern times). I think around 1996 ish. I recall there being problems with it.
Simple solution to this problem. Simply buy an original post war example. It will look better and run better!!

It should still be available, it has re-appeared in the recent v2 catalog. I may get one of those to tide me over until the log loader returns to the catalog (at least hopefully returns anyway).
I have the last version, the TMCC model. It works just fine and is very reliable. I don't know what problems they had, I always found the 164 loaders to be pretty reliable, even the earlier PW model.
The original #787 American Flyer log loader worked like a charm. I had one for several years. It never missed a beat. Every time I turned it on it worked flawlessly.

Could you share what the catalog number was for the TMCC one, I'd love to get it.
Lionel 6-24115 is the TMCC version of the #164.
They also made a modern version without TMCC. It's 6-12915. Nicholas Smith has a brand new one in stock. I have this one and it's smooth and quiet with the new can motor.

I'd have to agree. Never had any problems with the one I had. I do not think this model has any consistent gremlins present in all examples.
People may not have been thrilled with the plastic vs. the post war metal(I think the unloading stakes might have been some folks' focus) , but that's different than it having issues as produced.

I actually like the plastic better. The finish never gets chipped or scratched or rusts. I never heard of any issues with them either. Its a solid accessory.
The later one actually added a little "twist" that helps with unloading the logs, they "shake" the posts to minimize the logs sticking as they drop.

Same here. I laughed to myself a bit when reading Paul's response.
While many will enjoy the PW version, there is no way I'd be able to get one in acceptable condition to me for a decent price.
There is no way I could get one that would "look better" to me, if one even exists on the face of the earth. I'm sure a NOS sealed post war unit might be fine, but those are not going to be cheap!
Then again, I'm a condition fanatic to a great extent. I study the examples on display at the TCA museum to see if I note any flaws in the C9 units.
