Yeah, you read that wrong.  TF didn't need a mini-lecture on track curvature.

 

He was pointing out that there is a Seller who doesn't know what he is selling.  That is, he is listing a manual O27 turnout, that from the the picture shows what he is really selling is a manual SuperO turnout.

 

And likely, because of that, he has it listed at an attractive price, and it might not be found by people who are actually looking for SuperO

Super 0 track has a radius of 036 so what you read is wrong. When Lionel first issued Super 0 track they listed the curves as 038 in error but it was listed correctly later on.

I purchased Super 0 track when it was first offered for sale in October, 1957 and still use it on my inner loop layout and use Fast Track with 048 curves on the outer one.

Super-O could have been called O38 if it was measured across the ties. O27 through O54 conventional track curvatures are measured by the overall diameter across the ties, the actual footprint of the track. Super-O track makes a diameter of 36" measured to the center rails. I currently have circles of Super-O and O31 around the Christmas tree and I just measured it to be sure.
