Do you mean a link to a forum thread within a post placed in another thread?

Wouldn't you just use the little "share" symbol at the bottom of the post you want to link to, which will allow you to copy the post's URL to your clipboard, then insert a link in your reply and paste the contents of the clipboard (Ctrl-V) into the link to specify the target?

To clarify…what you are reading right now is a POST made within the “Attaching a link” THREAD.

Wouldn't the process for creating a link be the same for both? -- copy the post's URL, and use it to create a link in the new post.
OTOH, you can also create multiple embedded quotes (as opposed to just a link), perhaps starting with a quote from the preceding post (like above), then adding one or more quotes from other posts in the same thread (as I did below), simply by hitting the "reply with quote" option in the desired other post after starting the reply:

Rich and Steve, thank you for responding. I not sure how to phrase my question so I’ll put this on the back burner for now.

No, that is not the way to do it if you are trying to link to a specific POST within a THREAD.
To do that, you use this little tool:
Mouseover that three-pronged icon, click in the "Copy Link to Reply" window and you have copied the URL to that specific post. Paste that into a link in the post you are working in and you've got it.
CLICK HERE and you'll see what I mean. It will open a new tab/window and take you directly to the post you made a few above this one.
THIS LINK will open a new tab/window and take you to a post in the middle of Page 5 in the "Update from Chugman" thread.
