I recently purchased three postwar Lionel two- and-three-tiered auto carriers. While it is simple to fix cars to the top tier with a dab of tacky glue, I puzzled as to how to attach cars to the lower, interior tiers. My solution worked rather well: I cut 1/2" strips of thin wood the length of the cars, sanded and painted them (brown, green, black, in my case) and then glued the undersides of four cars to each strip with fast-setting glue. I can now insert these strips of cars into the 1/2" slots (no need for glue). So I now have auto carriers for a delivery of police cars, race cars, and Formula 1 cars. Rick.
