Charlie of Nassau Hobby Center indicated in a recent post that both the MTH green and brown Suisse Kroc locos would be released to dealers shortly. These locos will be equipped with Proto 3.0 sound and control systems, automatic operating pantographs, diecast bodies, and dual motors. I have a string of DB gons to run behind the green Kroc which I ordered.

Once had a Marklin gauge one green Kroc with digital sound and control ($$$$ X 3!), bur regretfully traded some years back.

Looking forward to the MTH model, which looks pretty good to my eyes. I am sure our European forum members will chime in with a reasonable critique of these models.

Just curious: how many American forum members ordered one of these locos?

I wanted one, but didn't bite because I really, really wanted the SBB Cargo electric with "CARGO" in giant letters on the side and I couldn't see spending the money for two Euro electrics. Besides, I have this little guy:

ETS Seetal 2

It's an ETS tinplate version of the Seetal "Baby Crocodile." Conventional only, but it runs great and I've got an ETS coupler at one end and an American-style coupler at the other so I can pull both kinds of cars.

Yup, also ordered a green one.

Are you saying that American forum members cannot provide reasonable critiques of these models ???  Of course, as a two railer, I already know my critiques aren't "reasonable" !

Hope yours comes in time to be under your tree, TA.

Best, SZ [ who is also a Seetal Krok fan...]

@Tinplate Art...received my Green Croc on Thanksgiving (after 1 week in transit from RTR in Miami).

I have to say, MTH created a delightful version of it..he is solidly built, well crafted, crisp paint/decorations and operate like a charm at slow speed. Sounds are good, was a very quiet electric engine to start with, so they are very subtle, the whistle is spot on and the PFA are pure fun in Swiss German.

Dimension are also right on.

Lighting is well done with the different effect of train, no train, running in wrong direction but the LED are a bit too white (should be more yellowish)

Critic are very few...the headlight could have been a bit smaller, the hood cover are made out of plastic (depending on the lighting you can see a small difference in color...) but the worse is the bell sound (yes don't activate it).

I'm sure some die-hard, scale, rivets to rivets, version to version modelllers will probably find some flaw with but for myself it's a wonderful engine and very happy with it.

A few pics (same as already posted last week)
