can I make any shortcut using the soft keys for my sound clips?

I'm not sure that I understand the question, however, I think the answer is "no".

And I was hoping to hear the engine sounds while I played my custom sound clips, is that at all possible? I didn't know if using my own mic, plugged into the TIU would give that effect?

AFAIK, no, there is no way to do this.

Okay thank you Barry. I was hoping for some good news on this one. It's still very cool tho. (The custom sounds) 

yeah I was hoping there was a way to make one of the soft keys, (when in the main menu) a shortcut to a custom sound. So instead of having to scroll thru the sound menu to play one, I thought there might have been a way to control a sound with a soft key.

That would be convenient, however, it cannot be done.
