I purchased the Base 3 with an iPad to replace TMCC base 1/ cab 1 on my layout. I’ve had a few issues and wondering if anyone can help.
1 first issue is I cannot hook up to Wi-Fi. It doesn’t work by WPS or typing it in on my home Wi-Fi. No matter what I try that doesn’t work. However, as many others have said everything works fine in the AP setting. But I would like to hook up through the Wi-Fi if anybody knows what my issue is please help

2 I have two ERR Cruise Commander updated Sunset locomotives. When I ran them on my layout with the cab 1/ base 1 Both locomotives ran exceptionally well. Now that I have the base three hooked up they do not seem to have the same speed steps. They don’t start off a a crawl And the speed steps increase speed very quickly. They ran much better hooked up to the old TMCC base 1.
3 Up to today, I could not upload Any of the upgrades from the app to the actual base. This issue may have actually resolved today, but I am not sure. I believe the screen is telling me I am updated to version 1.32 And I think my base is also. I will include a picture. If anyone knows if I am updated correctly to the latest version or if I am not, please let me know maybe guide me in the right direction. is version 1.32 the latest version.
Thank you for anyone that provides feedback. IMG_0372

3, yes you do have 1.32 firmware installed.

#1 Can you show us your wifi connection page on the CAB3 app?

Also, Base3 will not connect at 5G.  It is a 2.4ghz connection or older.  Make sure the SSID and password are for a 2.4G connection.

Once switched to wifi and rebooted, I look for the Base3 connection on my routers client list.   I get the IP address and then in the CAB3 WiFi connection settings, I use the manual IP setting and enter the IP address.  This tends to make connecting faster and drop outs fewer.

Thank you for letting me know. The firmware is up-to-date and trying to help me with this. I this is a picture of my Wi-Fi connection page.IMG_5698

This fun part of a BASE3 setup is it assumes WPS is a perfect way to connect to a home network.  I have often found using WPS for initial connections is problematic.    It may take many attempts for it to work.  See the WPS section here.   They reference using the B3SU which is another piece of software that runs on a PC.    A successful connection to the BASE3 by the CAB3 app will show a successful network connection as well as using the B3SU software.

I use the other option to enter in the routers SSID and password in the Wifi page.  Join the Network (without WPS) There are many that don't know SSID and PW since they just use the WPS button all the time.  The SSID and Password must be entered while in AP mode.   They do NOTHING while the Base3 is in AP mode.    The SSID and password in the CAB3 Wifi page  must match exactly the SSID and password used by your home computer and cell phone when connected to your home network.

Once you switch the Base3 from AP mode to network mode the SSID and Password are used to connect to your home network.  Your phone/ipad  should automatically reconnect to the home network once the AP mode is exited by the BASE3.    Then the CAB3 app each time it is started will search for the BASE3 and it's IP address that is assigned to it by your home router.

If this isn't working and you don't work with networks, you need a friend to help that knows networks, SSID, passwords and how to get web access to your router to check things out.

There are quite a few discussions on other Base3 posts about getting the system connected.

Hoping for your success.

I'm actually a little dismayed that Lionel didn't learn from the LCS WiFi that WPS is far from foolproof!  Not only is it a PITA in many environments, but WPS is also very susceptible to brute force attacks.

Here's one of literally hundreds of descriptions of why WPS is a poor choice.  I have long ago disabled WPS on my router!

What Is WPS and Why Is It Dangerous?

Why this was selected after all the problems with the LCS WiFi box relying on WPS is a total mystery!
