On heritageunits.com, all of the BC Rail units have been listed as original paint. Did they just merge or were they bought? And if so, by whom?

Purchased by Canadian National in 2013.
There are some BCOL General Electric C40-8W diesel locos in the CN paint scheme.
As I was sitting at a crossing today on these tracks in my truck watching about a hundred empty lumber cars being hauled back up north by a couple CN units, a thought occurred to me, and yes that is why your lights dimmed for a millisecond, why did BCRail, which stands for British Columbia Railroad, does it not, have red white and blue heritage units? Isn't that a USA thing, I mean the red white and blue heritage concept? Or was BCRail American owned? I have no idea, but I love to see these guys. They still exist. What type engine is that? I also see blue BCRail lettered diesels with the high wings in back, Dash 9s?, from time to time. I like my BCRail.
The BC government of the day changed the BC rail colors from green to their party colors, sort of subliminal advertising.
Now the party is out of power and the railroad sold to CN. The BC Rail paint schemes will remain until they can repainted without any cost to CN.
