Your photo looks like you live in or near Spencer!! I lived in NC for 30+ years and at one time it seemed we had a good number of shows.....but the last few shows it was going down hill....which is happening every where. But the only all O scale show I went to was a TCA meet in a school gym in Charlotte. It was a small show but I got a few items. The Winston Salem general train show was pretty good for me.

In spite of what other may say, we are fortunate to have some nice train shows in the state.

There is a multi scale show in Hickory at the Convention center just off I40 on April 8 from 9 to 4.  This has turned into a pretty good show and I am told there will be over 160 tables of trains for sale.

The TCA has a show at the NC fair grounds in Raleigh on May 6 at the Scott building from 10 to 3.

The Neuse River Valley Model RR club has the longest running show in the state (31 years I think) which is located a the NC fair grounds in Raleigh at the Jim Graham building on November 11 and 12.  This is also a multi scale show with a lot of layouts to see with about 30 percent of items for sale being O gauge.  This show usually brings in about 1500 to 2200 visitors.

The TCA also has a Christmas show the second weekend of December (Saturday and Sunday) as well as a show ing Charlotte in the fall and a show in Greensboro in February.

The Mebane train club has a show in early April.  This is a small meet but a nice venue with a very nice layout and displayed postwar collection professionally displayed.

The NC Transportation Museum has a show in the roundhouse in early August.

There may be others.

Give them a try, you might be surprised.

Happy railroading,

Don

This year's model train show at the NCTM in Spencer is being held on Friday, May 12 from noon to 7PM and Saturday, May 13 from 9AM to 5PM. This will be the first show that will be held in the Backshop. Show was moved to Fri/Sat due to Mother's Day. The Backshop has been undergoing renovations which include new walkways and restrooms. Hopefully the new dates will bring cooler temps, too.

Being that I live in the charlotte area. When it comes to o gauge train I live in the blackhole. The last good show was at metrolina. Now that its history like I said blackhole force so strong not even light can get away.

Last time I visited Charlotte there was not a single hobby shop of any kind in Meck county.

SO many good shops gone.....Whistle Stop, Trains LTD, RTR,  Modelers hobby, even two shops I worked in, Deb's model cars and Toy Circus had model trains....all gone.

I am not sure why a city as large as Charlotte with as many world hdqtrs can't support a good hobby shop and now not even a good train show.

(if you are as old as I am you remember the BIG trains shows at the old PTL grounds!!!!)

I am moving to the Raleigh area in a month so keep us posted on shows, please.  I want to g back and visit Spencer  plus some RR photography.

The NC Transportation museums absolutely outstanding! I have been going since I was about 4 and it has impacted me greatly. When you go make sure to swing by Little Choo Choo Shops just across the street! They almost always will negotiate prices with you. Look me up online and you will find my other social media accounts. I have a good amount of photos from NC Trans!
