I have no plans on purchasing one as I can't afford it and do not have the space for a layout that would allow it.  Doesn't mean I don't have the fever about getting one!  That being said, How many folks are buying it and planning on actually opening the box and running it as opposed to keeping it as a collector's piece?

I know I'm getting one big boy, I've thought about getting a second. Can't wait!

I couldn't agree more.  Everything in my collection should be in running condition and run from time to time if not all the time.

I am hoping I can run mine, I have a lot of different curve radius on my layout.

I was able to run the Lionel Challenger, so I'm hopeful. It will not look proto typical going around the curves, that is not a concern, only if it will make it is my concern.

Soooo, if it does not take the curves? It leaves me no other alternative. Nice winter project of rebuilding.

Last July, around the first of the month, I was so fortunate to have Rich Melvin come to my home and do a Live Video of my layout. If those of you WHO follow the OGR FORUM have seen OGR THE  VIDEO 10, You will see the new Lionel H7...Also many great Lionel Locomotives were in operation. The Answer to the Question,YES, We will run the new Vision Line Big Boy...Rich taught us how to really work the Legacy System to get the most out of our trains. So, Rich, Come on back to Tennessee and We Will RUN THAT NEW BIG BOY....THIS SHOULD BE A FINE PRODUCT. Thank You Rich for Your thoughts. I love the OGR FORUMS....

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

because just maybe just maybe, some are hoping the price of it not run will really skyrocket and might sell it for twise the money worth.....Id had the MTh challenger rail king when she first hit the market in 96..loved it and it was my first ogauge id ever owned.....Ill never have the money to spend on that bigboy....Im happy running my 3rd rail PRR S1 unskirted duplex...rather do some up grades in the sound system then im sound as a pound.....

No.  My JLC will not even come close, and I expect the V BB will use very nearly identical mechanical arrangement.

Eric My wife and I are your biggest fans. But we have always said, you must have the most understanding wife that there ever was.Nick&Janet Originally Posted by ericstrains.com:

AMEN!

I'm lucky as I don't have a layout yet, so mine will be built around this locomotive.  It will live on the layout, and it will run anytime there is power to the track.  The BB is my favorite locomotive, this version isn't my 1st, nor will it be my last, but they will all be run.

I really envy you guys who are going to buy that Big Boy!  Those are the most awesome model railroad engines ever made!  If I bought one, and I'm way too cheap, I'd have it out of the box in a second!  However, I'm too cheap and no big boy ever came close to Glacier National Park.  They were all "confined" to one stretch of line because they were TOO BIG in real life.

I can't wait to see all the various videos and maybe I'll be lucky here in central Indiana and someone will run one some where that I can see in person!
