I don't think I'll need any good luck and  I don't think the majority of the VL BB owners will need it either.  Any new engine is "unproven".  Good that Lionel takes risk to innovate.  Otherwise, we'd be stuck with trains still running in conventional.  Besides, Vision Line products have two year warranty with free shipping for repairs.  Amen.

Additionally, the thought of my VL BBs arriving DOA has never even crossed my mind and I don't think it has with other would be owners as well.  The only potential issue is the malfunctioning depleting coal load.  No big deal.   The smoke units and electronics have been proven in other engines (VL Challenger, etc.).

I can't wait to see all the various videos and maybe I'll be lucky here in central Indiana and someone will run one some where that I can see in person!

You are a good and honest train collector, John.  Even though you are not getting a VL BB, you are not insulting it or contributing negatively to the enjoyment of potential owners.  Best of all, you are honest in your reasoning.  Glad there still hobbyist like you around.  I'll be posting videos of triple heading when I receive both of mine.

Once I get the email with the tracking number and know it's out for delivery, I may just be "sick" that day and stay home from work to play with it.

Aha! Great advice. Sort of like a mental health day.

Absotively I would run it!!

I've been teetering on the fence on whether to get the Vision Line Big Boy.  Only because I already have two MTH and the Lionel Legacy models of it.  So  I ended up diverting the funds to the recently announced Santa Fe "El Capitan" bi-level passenger set from Golden Gate Depot, which I have wanted since I missed out on the K-Line set.

BUT, I do reserve the right to decide to order one at any time.

If you don't run it how will you know if it runs correctly?

as to will I run my copy of it?

I sure do not intend it to be a shelf queen.

just listening to the online video begs one to run and enjoy it as some of us were born after the steam era and is only way we can appreciate them.

Now I wish I had bought more of the union pacific brown box cars even though I believe there the modern day vintage for diesels but would still look good to me behind this bb.

$oo

It's gonna be a big boy Christmas day in december, all of our family, even we have twins last august and we have to destroy our train layout to do some space, I have 2 rings under beds to easily use for our model train crisis.  Now, I just don't know what loco number to choose!  I can afford (not really but) only one unfortunately.

I'm sure between the two of us we'll have more cars to put behind a double header then we have track to run it on.  Some will say it won't look right, but where's the fun in that?

I can hardly wait until the loco is delivered and the first distressed posts appear - "My diminishing coal feature is working backwards and now I have coal all over da place!"

Pete

Haha, you never know Pete I'm buying the loco despite the vanishing coal load. I think Lionel have gone to a lot of trouble for a rather odd feature. I think all the steam, smoke and noise will be the big crowd pleaser.
