What happened to the K4?

It's been back in Altoona, in pieces, for a while now.
Important to note that the K4 was NOT a SNHS project, rather it was a project conducted AT Steamtown by another entity.
Three years to complete this restoration seems to be more than optimistic seeing as it took them over 15 years to complete the Baldwin switcher...
Some pictures.
But Steamtown is still going to be steamless for the next few years on the Moscow line. Unless 765 returns. RBMN's 2102 will probably be finished first, Andy wants it done by next year. I always wondered why RBMN couldn't run an excursion from Jim Thorpe to Steamtown, it's because the last few miles to Steamtown from Taylor Yard were CP and are now NS. But 425 managed to get to Steamtown for temporary display a while ago.

Like the article said, all it takes is money. They get the funds, they have a chance, if not enough funds, ohwell
Is it my imagination, or is the whole engine painted Olive Drab.

Yep, With 20 some years of dust and dirt.
More pictures. Roof sheet.
2007 picture, extensive repair to/ or replacement of, the mud ring.
Each hole as it gets larger can/is become a new monumental project.
This fire box design has a syphon jet(s), an interesting spin on steam speed, and efficiency.
Remember that engine sitting in front of the Science museum in Boston with all that salt air and outside at steam town in VT long time ago.

I highly doubt the 2102 when done in 2017 will ever run to Steamtown. The Reading and Northern will want to keep her in their own system to draw more tourists to their operations solely I suspect.
Back to the original topic, I would be greatly surprised if the 3713 is operational by 2019 (3 years as mentioned). In fact I wouldn't be surprised considering how much time went into getting the 26 back that the 3713 isn't operational until the middle of the next decade (2025)
Considering Steamtown is still an understaffed and underfunded government agency, I doubt they will have another steam engine in service in three years.

Primer of some kind.
I saw this locomotive in September and she looked a long way from running at that point. I doubt much has changed since then.
If you want a steam trip in the Scranton area, ride the 425 Duryea-Jim Thorpe excursion in September if it runs. That's about it this year for mainline steam in the NE PA area. The October 425 trips leave from Port Clinton.
Actually not to go on topic drift here but the R&N #425 will run on July 23rd on a trip from Jim Thorpe to Mountain Top. (2 trips I believe, but I may be wrong).
