Thanks guys. Sal will get it sorted out.

@Don McErlean posted: We have talked about Lionel's little 0-27 boxcars before, most of them going to special sets for particular commercial customers. Here are two that were sponsored by "True-Value" Hardware stores in the 1970's. Both uncatalogued, the #9053 green from 1977 and the # 9046 white from 1976. Except for the color and the number, these two cars are exactly the same. Likely added to a starter type train set that Lionel sold through True-Value at Holiday time.
Those two are cool Don. I've not seen them before.

Me…..late, late, late! Power washing the house…🙄
Here are two cars I have done in the past, but I sold them both. So I had extra sets of decals and decided to recreate them during last week.
Both MTH cars, stripped and painted by me. K-4 Decals on both cars.
19th Century Boxcar done in the Big Four livery…with added details…maybe I will weather it…not decided yet!
Then a MTH Premier 40’ boxcar done in a Rock Island green scheme. I bought a bottle of Rock Island green True Color paint and intended to paint the car using that. Then I was comparing colors and found that Tamiya German Field Green was just about a perfect match. So my lazy *** went with the rattle can Tamiya for this car.
Tamiya paint is great, but you have to careful with clear coats darkening the paint. I clear coat the plain painted car a few times with gloss spray, decal then hit it with a matte cover. It works well that way, so you don’t end up with light areas behind the decals…

Mark, thank you for the kind words! The car was fun to paint with the two colors and the great decals from K-4.
I am usually afraid of closeups of my work, but you pics really did the car justice!

@Dave Ripp. posted:Growing up next to the tracks in the 60's trough 80's I saw tank trains, hopper trains, and boxcar trains. I always liked the boxcar trains the best do to the variety of sizes and colors. Let's see what you have on your pike. Real boxcar pictures are good to as long as you have permission to use them or there your own.
I went all the way back in the Time Machine to Dave Ripp’s original post from 2017 that started this great ongoing topic thread to make sure I wasn’t breaking any rules with the following photo of a real boxcar!
In today’s graffiti-filled world of railroad freight cars, it seems like a special occasion (unfortunately!) to see a freshly-painted, squeaky-clean boxcar!
I just couldn’t resist taking a photo of this CN (Grand Trunk Western) boxcar this past Wednesday, 5/29/24. It has a “Built Date” of November, 2023, so it has survived about 6 months without graffiti…at least on this side of the car anyway! It was traveling in a train on the Mass Central Railroad in Palmer, MA…

While we're on the subject of CN, here's an MPC 027 plugdoor boxcar in EJ&E (a.k.a. "The J") "Chicago Outer Belt" livery:
What, do you ask, has CN got to with EJ&E? Well, after a little over 120 years of independent operation, CN acquired most of its 164 miles of track on February 1, 2009, leaving a small portion in Indiana to be reorganized as the Gary Railway. While the CN repainted acquired locomotives in their colors, they continued to display the EJ&E roadname for another four years. Then, in 2012, CN announced the merger of EJ&E with another CN subsidiary, the Wisconsin Central. The merger was officially consummated on January 1, 2013, and the EJ&E ceased to exist exactly 124 years after it was founded on January 1, 1889.
This boxcar, acquired NIB from Forum sponsor Trainz, has a rather interesting "quirk" in that one end placard has "9700 SERIES" molded into it while this is actually a 9400 series car:
Several sellers on the auction site (charging exorbitant prices) claim this situation is rare and indicates that cars bearing this type of "endprinting" discrepancy are among the few earliest produced by Lionel in a new series before they had changed the molds over completely from the previous series production. Any additional insight from you more knowledgeable folks would be appreciated.

Happy Boxcar Sunday. I'll start this week with a MTH St Louis Southwestern, better known as the Cotton Belt.

@Dave Ripp
Nice car Dave, I’m familiar with the Cotten Belt; but don’t recall the Blue Steak.
For this Sunday I have two cars. First up is a Lionel plugdoor boxcar # 9054, from a JC Penny promotional set.
Next are two cars from an Atlas custom run for Public Delivery Track. New Hope and Ivyland boxcars #s 608 and 630.

My Long Island Rail Road Alco RS-1 #462 pulled two boxcars on my 10'-by-5' layout. Pennsylvania #24270 was made by K-Line. New York & Long Branch (CNJ) #25624 has no manufacturer’s markings but I think it was made by Weaver.

Well today boxcar fans I have a Kline boxcar from Kline's train manufacturer series. This one commemorates Marx and it also contains the logo of the Toy Train Museum in Strasburg and carries a number TTM 7788 and a Kline number of 6419 with a blt date of 4/88. Perhaps this was once sold in the Museum shop. Being something of a Marx collector, when I saw this on e-bay I couldn't pass it up. It is NIB and I won the auction at $12.95 !
Best Wishes, hope your upcoming week goes well
Don

Here are a couple of oldies for you...the one on the left is almost Lionel's first version of this car. It is the Lionel #655 with plates and all Ni trim dating from 1935-1938 (car was introduced in 1933) and to the right is the last version, from 1942 with rubber stamping, box couplers, and blackened trim .
Happy Father's Day to all you Dad's out there.

NAUSET RAILWAY Boxcar.
Special run for NAUSET MODEL RAILROAD CLUB of Orleans, MA by Weaver.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there! Sometimes railroads repurpose boxcars. The Jersey Central modified many 40’ outside-braced boxcars for use in company service, including tool cars, cable cars and blocking cars in their regionally-based wreck trains, or “service trains” as the CNJ called them.
Here are two 40’ outside-braced cars from AtlasO that I repainted, detailed, re-lettered and 3-rail scaled (with Kadees) several years ago into a tool car and cable car as part of the CNJ’s Ashley, Pennsylvania-based service (wreck) train. They will eventually receive some light weathering…
