Besides, we all know that they should relocate the whole kit-and-kaboodle to Roanoke, in the heart of real railroading country, for a whole bunch of reasons.

The move is predictable and just follows the path of Lionel to its NASCAR promoters and lower cost of operation. What is strange about all this is the disappearance of CEO Jerry Calabrese and his NYC operation. If I were a guessing man, I would say that Lionel is just keeping him onboard to honor his contract and when it runs out another CEO will be appointed. Am I correct about this?

No, you're not.
Lionel has a new office rented in Sterling Heights, Mich. (same county as Chesterfield Twp.) I don't think they will be there much longer. Will still miss not having them in Michigan, but they will do just fine in North Carolina. I will still buy their products.
Woo Hoo - that's great news as I'm in Middle Georgia and they will be much closer!
It would be interesting if someone figures out how the Chinese could service and sale what they make from mainland China. 
Most likely they don't care to service anything.

Well, I think their attitude is that they will be happy to do that when someone else figures out how to make enough money on the service after the sale to pay them to do that. Those factories and subcontractors pretty much do whatever they are hired to do - and not one little thing more.
only a 20 minute drive for me once they move. Would be cool if they would make a showroom layout again
