So the builder plate fell off the side of my brand new Lionel Bershire locomotive the other day . What kind of glue should I use to reattach it (it's a diecast boiler)? Thanks!

I used to buy builder plates from CandOplates.com. They were added to 4 of my steamers. I used the gel version of super glue to attach. Just a very little dab and you're good to go.
As for placing the builder plate, cut the end off of a Q-Tip. Again, a little dab of Vaseline or grease and you can stick the builder plate temporarily on the Q-Tip. This will make handling / positioning the builder's plate much easier.

Definately the way to do it, I think. Has worked for me on similar things. Just realize you gotta adjust and get it in place quickly, the first time. You don't get a second chance once you put it in place and step back to look, its set by then.
I'm sure Gilly is an expert but I wanted to throw in an alternative idea.Use an ever so small dab of silicone. This will enabled you to move the plate around a little until it is perfectly positioned.Good luck.Nick
Thanks for asking this Question. Now I know something new that will come in handy if I ever need to glue a Very tiny Item...Wow. Thats Interesting. Happy Railroading.

Brilliant tip!!
I use RTV, also known as silicone seal. Works great and lasts longer than the loco will.
I have a little vacuum chip pick-up tool. If the surface is smooth, it's great for handling stuff like this for positioning.
