They're form a PA that was originally Texas & New Orleans 202B later renumbered to 205 in 1949 and then renumbered to Southern Pacific 6055 in 1955.You can see the daylight paint through the grey. Bob cheated using google. I had to go all Amish and look it up in some books. Wonder what these are worth.

Since you have the pair, they are worth a LOT!!!!! Please do NOT try to restore, clean, or glass bead them in ANY WAY.
Agreed--a paired set of plates off an iconic diesel will command the big bucks.
Using the wire wheel on them, was probably a Bad Idea too.
Nowadays they'd use a little silk-screened label, those were the days when they really made stuff to last!

By the way, you can clean those up using Simple Green.
I wouldn't clean them at all, they're fine the way they are. Simple Green will probably eat them, just ask Lee how well it works on Fastrack!
