Building BCR - Need advice on Parts

I’m not sure which end is on the battery and which is on the harness.

That's it.  The male end is on the battery end.

I actually put the connector for the PS/2 board on the supercap, that way I can replace the whole battery harness.

I really like this idea and it would save a lot of work.

My test case today is the Aerotrain.

The female end goes to the board but picks up the 2 wires from the external battery port before it hits the board.

I guess where is no need for the external battery port now because I am using a capacitor?

The wires from the original battery used about a 20 gauge wire....can I use 22 on 20 with a capacitor installation?

No need for a charging port, all you need is the capacitor connected to the power board.

That is now done.  Extra wiring and port removed.   And working well.

What size are those connectors to the board?  And what wire size would you recommend from the board connector to the capacitor?

You can use almost any size wire, it's not like there's a huge amount of current, around 200-300ma at the most when charging.  The contacts I use are rated for #24 to #28 wire.

I use the 2-pin JST PHR-2 connectors for the battery connection, they are compatible.  You'll also need the SPH-002T-P0.5L Contacts to complete the job.
