Well since today is my first and only day off I got to open my Christmas Gifts!! The E-33 was a gift to myself, I saw the Schnabel car come up on e-bay for $99 shipped and jumped on it(another gift to myself) and the MTH J-1e Hudson with the PT tender was s gift from my wife and daughter. Boy that is a beautiful engine!!! I have to admit I thought my Sunset/3rd rail J-1a that I just bought was nice, but this one I think is nicer. I'll have to line them up side by side, but this is a beaut! On to the pics!

All magnificent looking trains.
This reminds me of something I did 25 years ago when my now adult children were little kids. Please don't do what I'm about to say unless your little kids genuinely love trains.
One year for Christmas, I got an O Gauge locomotive for each of my kids plus myself. My kids kind of liked, but did not love, the trains. They were not thrilled with their gifts and my wife, who is a good and sensible woman, was not too thrilled. My intentions were good (I thought my kids were, or would become, as passionate as me about trains).
I made it up to them the following year getting them other things they loved.

Seems to me your plan worked perfectly. Don’t know how many kids you have, but you got a bunch of new trains! Serendipity...

Wish I had antique stores like yours! One near me has had a 2817 for a couple of years because they think its worth $60! There is another that I found a Singer featherweight sewing machine for my mom in so I like that one 👍
Steamer posted:picked this up a little bit ago at one of our local antique shops for .48 cents....was on the .50 cent table..it was close to closing and all the change I had was the .48 cents. Nice shape missing one end flap.

Did you get the car with the box too? I have a really nice one, I've never had it out of the box, has to be near mint condition
I already had the 2411, my youngest got it for me a couple of Christmases ago.
Dennis the antique shops are a hit and miss. This same store...different dealer has a Marx Crossing Shanty, with a broken gate for $100. He's had it at least 5 years. I picked one up in the same shape at a show for $10. A lot of the shops think because it's an old train (especially Lionel) it must be worth a lot. I've seen beat up Marx for ridiculous prices, and nice condition Lionel for more than fair prices.
How about buying an upgrade? My CCII Niagara I bought the upgrades for the driveshaft and gears, ERR Cruise, Super Chuffer and Chuff Generator, man does it smoke. Here are a few videos, two at the Jada Enterprises Shops @Alex M (Great job BTW, Thank you so much), and one carpet run this morning of me getting smoked out, lol. I did have another video, but it is a little over the limit for posting at 110MB's. Oh well, we can live with these, enjoy
New MTH Rail King engine. My first Alco engine from the Spokane Portland and Seattle line. I love the sound it makes on start up. I have it pulling local duty on the Ringling Bros circus line, and as soon as I buy a set of Empire Builder passenger cars it will serve on a leg of that train’s duty. I’m really enjoying these MTH engines and the use of the new Explorer means I can finally run multiple engines at once without a full DCS system. A winner! Enjoy a look.
I bought a BNSF set of Gunderson cars from Atlas. They are amazing, but the overhang is one you will need to watch for

I don't know how Nicholas Smith does it, but I got a Legacy F40PH NPCU (#90218) and Atlas O Dome Chair Silver Lariat for $10-20 cheaper than Trainworld. I have never had the privilege of seeing either in person, can't wait to start assembling a single-level Pacific Surfliner set. Will post pictures once they arrive.
I buy exclusively for Nicholas Smith, great store and great people to deal with.
Yes Matt, there goes Matt into Nicholas Smith's!!
Matt. LOL
Matt - Thanks for stopping in. Next time you buy that much product, we will ship for free! Nicholas Smith is my most popular store at this time of year.
Won this last night on eBay. $58 plus shipping. Just the Loco, Tender and Remote. It is new, some one busted up the set. I 'm not sure If I am going to keep it as is or repaint it and use it for a Christmas train or what. Just wanted another lion Chief to play around with.
Well, I got a box, an empty one. Was supposed to be TIU and Controller. That makes for a very bad day.
WUUUUH??? You got scammed? that sucks Monkey.
Its an advertiser here, but I dont want to name drag.
I actually had a good experience with a private person here.
This is my first empty box ever. It's depressing, probably no more so than when you have a layout, but when its the control system to demo your first DCS locomotive that you got for Christmas... Well then, its a sad day.
12 MONKEYS, that is awful. Does the box look like it was opened and resealed while in transit. Also did you contact who you bought it from to tell him about it. Did you pay by credit card......................Paul

What kind of a mental case does something like that, actually goes through the effort of wrapping up and shipping something empty!? Maybe it was a very, very weird mental-lapse? I'm going to hope for the best and that you are eventually going to tell us that once you contacted him/her that they replied that it was a gross error and hurriedly re-shipped to you.
Otherwise, shouldn't you be telling us all here whom to be very, very wary of?

I don't believe the Vendor is wholly at fault. I do a beef with the vendor which is paying insured with carrier X and having it shipped with carrier Y for 1/8th the Value. The actual box likely contained the product at some point.
And since the vendor still has opportunity to deal with it ( this is from today) and I have not fully read my terms of posting on this website, I will not be naming names.

Wow! Hopefully the vendor will get it straightened out and send you another. Still the disappointment on waiting and the hassle is really tough!

Well, what matters most is that you are satisfied. I truly hope it works out well for you.

I am purely not satisified. The email back lacked any form of condolence. No form of any regret, only accusatuon. We are in dispute via the payment host. 15 years of transactions and this my only duapute.
The fact that I paid for FDX and received USPS agitates me to no end. I live in the FDX capital. While but a common man my ties to that company are immense.
NASSAU has a good rep here so i am sorely disappointed. Over the years i have done a lot of business via forums, <and> well this has been the first issue <that I have had>. Oddly <enough> it's not another forum member but an actual vendor.
I didn't enter this as an all or none <dispute,> But Nassau has basically told me to kiss off. And so, now it is. They have proof they delivered a box. I have proof i paid for one service and received another. The product was never delivered.
I hate to bring drama here, its not my style, but I suppose, today is the day for me.
<EDIT's & a few Capitalization corrections>
I feel your pain. They cheaped out on shipping and you got left holding the bag.
Call Joey at Nicholas Smith, hes taken excellent care of me and never turned a blind eye to any issue
I would not put up with this. I would take to the BBB or your local news station that has a consumer advocate on board.
What was the weight on your package when it shipped? I would get the weights from MTH.
This would definitely cost them as it would leave a big question mark In anyone's mind as to what they were gonna get if they ordered ANYTHING. Wow!! Wishing you much luck.
Joe
Yup, this repainted Lionel 520 is due Monday.

I added some Woodland Scenics hobo figures to one of my boxcars. Fairly inexpensive and easy to do, and looks pretty cool...
This morning I headed out to a S gauge snowbirds show in Parma Ohio. As I was going down the driveway I noticed my buildings flats were on the steps so I tossed them in the truck and headed out. Usually this show has nothing that peeks my interest but it just feels good to get out to a show after so long. But I was able to pick up a couple of city backdrops and two die cast trucks for the attic layout. So it was a good day............Pics .......Paul

Paul, I was there also. Being an S gauge sponsored show there was plenty of Flyer. Sadly for me, my list of postwar Lionel remained.
