Great thread. It is disappointing Lionel is looking to have some people deferring to 'screen-time' moving forward.
Most of us grew up being 'tethered' to a transformer. Until I recently re-introduced myself into the hobby, I wasn't aware such gems as TMCC & Legacy existed. I do now! I like Lionchief too! I simply love the tactile feel of remotes.
I'm an amateur photographer too and shoot Canon. There is something elusive about the great feeling of taking photographs with a professional camera body vs. the entry-mid-level products; very much like holding a Legacy remote vs CAB-1. I do hope my Lionel Legacy, CAB-1 and Lionchief remotes last a long time.

Well, all I can say it that it will be fun AND interesting to finally meet you in person at York. 😎
We have one cab2, two cab1s, and a bunch of iPads in our 'train room.' When we all play, the cab2 goes first, followed by the cab1s, and the losers get the iPads. It's the youngest, 8YO, who most prefers the cab2 over his own iPad. The app's voice-control is cool, and graphics are visually appealing, but it pales before the cab2's functionality. I'm unclear on what additional features cab3 will bring, other than minor application enhancements? I'm looking forward to reading the early-adopters reviews.
