I'm using the CAB1L with my Base3. On the CAB3 app you can set a maximum speed for an engine. That works.
But when I use the CAB1L it overrides the max speed and you can go full speed. How do I set the max speed on the CAB1L? Or what am I missing?

CAB1L is Legacy Lite- meaning NOT ALL LEGACY features are supported- max speed being one of them.
As an FYI, the CAB3 app lets you set max speed on all engine types on the Base3. Even Bluetooth.
I'm surprised the CAB1L overrides those settings. Another bug IMO.

It's not a bug. Cab1L has no idea what the speed limit is set to. It only has 1 way communication. It has no idea what you set it for with the Cab3 app. You can set a speed limit on the Cab1L. A Cab2 will recognize the Cab3 app setting because it does support 2 way communication.

Caveat- isn't that specific speed limit set with basically TMCC format- meaning the R2LC or LCRU is storing the max speed in the engine- not so much the remote or database? it might not work in all engines and then in turn is based on the engine- so even CAB3 setting is kind of trumped by this.

I can set a speed limit using Cab3 without my layout powered. I select an engine set the speed I want as MAX, press and hold the speed indicator and SET the speed limit. When I do this the speed indicator will not go above the set speed limit for that engine. The Cab2 will mimic that speed limit setting so it's definitely being stored I believe in the base and share with any 2 way communicating remotes.
It's explained here.

Marty,
I understand all what has been said but I see no way on a speed limit on a CAB1L. Do you know how to do this? I can't find anything in the manual. I did see the instructions in the CAB1 manual but that doesn't work on the CAB1L. I believe you are saying it can be done but how?

Well I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong but it looks like they removed the ability to set a speed limit with Cab1L. I don't see anything in the manuals and it doesn't work the same as Cab1 which I expected. @Dave Olson would have to address whether this is accurate or not or if anyone else knows the answer. It's just one of those features you'd think would be carried over from Cab1 but I've never tried on my Cab1L because I typically don't use speed limit.
I tried it this morning and found I could set one at least using the Cab1 procedure and there are no instructions in the Cab1L manual either stand alone of with Base1L.
