The point is NBC tried to make drama out of the commercial being "graphic" in nature, as in, stick figures getting hit by trains and getting cut into threes or losing a limb and then asking if it was too graphic.
I think the adds were not that graphic in nature but more of a warning to people to take the train crossings seriously. Possibly they could have done more or made it more realistic to drive home the importance of rail crossing safety.
We on here know that trains take a mile or more at times to stop and most vehicles can get out of the way quickly.
I drove school bus for almost 4 years for a county in southeast Florida, we were instructed to always stop at a railroad crossing(didn't matter what the speed limit on the road was) and look & listen to make sure the crossing was safe to cross. Ask yourself how would I like to be charged with the harming of 65 elementary students? Sometimes I had that many or more students on my bus.
