Can I use a Powerbase to run conventional trains and use the Legacy to operate the switches with an ASC2? If not, can I use an SC2?

You can use the Legacy PowerMaster with the CAB1L, if you have an old TMCC PowerMaster, you will need either the Legacy PowerMaster Bridge or the old CAB1 (no L) to operate it. You can use either the ASC2 or the SC2 with any of the TMCC or Legacy control systems.

GRJ, thanks. After a little bit more thought, I suspected it could be done that way. Good to get another opinion. I don't have all of the components and didn't want to buy the items if it wasn't going to work.

If you don't have any of the components, then I'd pick wisely based on how you're going to run.
