CANADIAN NATIONAL!?!?

Mike...are you turning your back on the BNSF? Eek Eek Eek

I have a few CN cars, I have the Lionel and MTH 100 Ton Grain Hoppers, and Cylindrical Hopers that are gray one one side and have the multicolor rainbow on the opposing side. I also have the auto carrier and single door box. I like to run them with my CP Rail SD40-2 or Soo Line SD60. Aside from that I am a Wisconsin Central fan and will forever be cursing the Canadian National!!!! Eek Eek Eek

Joe,

My bad, I need to be more accurate

Rich, I don't know why but this has me chuckling. It sounds like your apologizing to me??? LOL (I'm still looking up to you)
I think MTH's description has the M and the M-2 too vague. They sound like their saying the SD70M is almost the same as the SD70M-2. Although the numericals are close, the engines look a world apart to me. One (M) looks more like a SD70 and the other (M-2) a SD70ACE. So in their heading of a SD70M you get something like an ACE!! Not really a rivet or two apart. Both are really
Bue-ty-full engines. Joe
I would suggest to all modelers out there, especially modern equipment modelers, to spend some time trackside and "study" the engines you see. You may not be a rivet counter or even like to railfan, but it helps understand whats out there. You may even enjoy the experience.

If you do not have a lot of rail action where you live, there are many great books and guides out there to learn the differences between the engines. Again, to each their own, but I found that once I picked up some books and spent a few hours trackside, I was totally hooked. It is a great supplement to O scale modeling.

Now as for you Mr. Eagle.......My heart will always be with the BNSF. Even after an unsuccessful merger with CN, BNSF still is #1 in my little 3 rail world.

Mike
Long live that Pumpkin Great Northern Heritage scheme forever!!! Big Grin Good Thread

(Though it would be neat if the BNSF adopted the orange and black of the Milwaukee Road Wink )

CN signs voluntary mitigation agreement (VMA) with Village of Sauk Village, Ill.
CHICAGO, Oct. 13, 2010 — CN (TSX: CNR)(NYSE: CNI) announced today it has reached a voluntary mitigation agreement (VMA) with the Village of Sauk Village, Ill., located approximately 30 miles south of Chicago, addressing the municipality's environmental and safety concerns with CN's acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway Company (EJ&E). With this agreement, CN has VMAs with 24 of the 33 communities situated on the EJ&E in Illinois and Indiana.

CN, which completed its purchase of the EJ&E on Jan. 31, 2009, will provide funding for various measures in Sauk Village, including the creation of a quiet zone, noise mitigation, and emergency response training and communication.

Jim Vena, CN senior vice-president, Southern Region, said: “CN is pleased to have negotiated another mitigation agreement with a community on the EJ&E. We believe these voluntary agreements will establish the grounds for positive, constructive relationships between the railroad and communities in the years ahead.”

CN is also working closely with communities on the EJ&E that do not have agreements with CN to ensure implementation of safety and environmental conditions in accordance with the requirements of the Surface Transportation Board.

Integration of the CN and EJ&E networks is well underway, and, as contemplated in the original plan, the Company continues to expect it will be completed within three years of its acquisition of control.

Rich, that sand tower? is great looking too! Joe

That's a model from Overland Brass. about 10 years old now I guess. They pop up from time to time on "auction sites" and are usually very expensive. It belongs to my friend GNNPnut (aka Jerry) That's his engine terminal module.

Here's a couple more shots of my CN equipment "in action" on our Independent HiRailer's Midwest Div. layout.

We'll be set up & running at the iHobby Expo in Chicago next week. Come on out and say Hi!
