I'd be interested to know whether CNR did away with its electrified commuter zone in Montreal. I am certain they retired the locomotives, but did they keep the m-u cars in service?

The history of CN's use of electric locomotives for commuter trains in the Montreal area is nicely summarized here:
CN had a small number of MU cars along with some box-cabs. Here is some video from 1987.

Some of those box cabs look just like the ones that used to operate between Port Huron, Mich and Sarnia, Ont. when the tunnel was electricfied. THis was the GTW....]
