Just upgraded an old R-36 subway to PS-3. When adding MTH engine it comes up in ADR: 30

Why doesn’t it come up as R-36 like the original?

I tried to name it but after entering R-36 and then (D) to save in the remote, no name is shown and the remote shows CHECK TRACK , ENGINE ERROR.

Subway runs and original sounds are great with the new speaker.

Because that was the lowest available DCS address. A new board doesn’t know what was an old board’s DCS ID#.

DCS Subways and trolleys cannot have a Custom Name.

Thanks for the reply Barry.

I had removed all the old PS-2 R-36 info. from the system during trouble shooting the failed unit last month. Read didn't work either so it went to the local auth. MTH repair shop.

So you are saying its new name is stuck in address 30? How will anyone know where the R-36 Subway is in a remote of 40 or so engines and lash ups listed?

I realize that I can move it to another address. Problem I see is I can no longer name it like the original from MTH as it used to automatically show in the remote as R-36 #9750, right?  So it will be identified by the address number now only?
