Happiness is a vacation day spent putting together an open top load. Flat car is a HO Walthers GSC 53'6" Proto, grader is a Norscott.
The flat car deck was weathered with SP Lettering Gray painted on some boards, and plain grey on others, and one two boards, I just took a #12 blade and scratched at the grey deck. Bragdon weathering powders were used to weather the deck. The blocking pattern is per the "AAR Section 3 Rules Covering the Loading of Road Grading, Road Making, and Farm Equipment Machinery on Open Top Cars", 1960 version. I wish I could provide a web link for it, they had all six volumes available for download. Perfect for a transition era modeler.
Since I operate by TT&TO sessions, this car will have the load applied westbound, and I'll take it off eastbound. The waybill will indicate the appropriate information.
Ideas for the deck weathering and blocking methods came from "Model Railroading" articles by Paul Dolkos and Mont Switzer.

Jerry
