I just bought a K-Line O Scale Mikado with Lionel railsounds and TMCC.  Been wanting one for a while, but in T&P livery, which was never made in scale.  I will undertake the task of changing the railroad name, so have a lot of questions.

Is complete stripping of the areas where the name goes necessary, as I don't think I can match the paint exactly?  What to use for stripping?

What paint to use to reapply?

I have good pictures of logos, etc., and I plan to go to a sign shop to have decals made.  There is a shop I used before for airplane decals and they did a good job.  Don't know if they can do this.  I have researched the old pictures, and have some good paint schemes and logos, but getting them the right size may be the problem.

Should I paint the letters and numbers on, or apply them with stick-on?  How about a lesson from the pros?
