Mario's 3D printed 30mm wide pocket/Kadee 804 coupler on left.  AtlasO pocket/coupler on right.  I'm very pleased with improved looks and operation.  See the 3RS thread for context, installation, and test results.  (I need to weather those cars using Lee Turner's approach briefed at the Chicago Meet clinic!)

What a difference!  I just had my first experience with the Atlas Kadee Kopy - revoltin'!

In working on a couple of Atlas 60' coaches, very nice models in their own right, I found that the pre-drilled holes for the draft gear didn't line up with my Kadees - no matter how I jockeyed them around. I then pilfered my only set of Atlas Kopies from a 2R boxcar I'd bought in error. Just getting them off the car was a major undertaking. When I installed one on a coach, it looked ridiculous and the mechanism was too stiff to allow effective operation. The Kadee solution was simple and very effective.

My first experience with Mario's draft gear "pockets" was part of the same project, "3R scaling" the matching Atlas RS-3. The pockets weren't perfectly identical and took a little filing to square them up but, O Gauge, what a difference a couple of bucks and a few minutes of tuning made!  Great stuff!  It seems peculiar that a guy can basically produce these enhancements in his basement but Atlas, Lionel and MTH can't do it with their respective design staffs and production facilities. Methinks Kadee should either hire him or, at the very least, advertise his products. Both would benefit from such an alliance.
