I just received a Lionel 2027260 Union Pacific Excursion Vista Vision Camera 21" passenger car with the wrong car factory-sealed in the box.  The shipper and orange box were correctly marked with Wifi Camera instructions, but a "Kenefick" Business/Observation Car from the George HW Bush Funeral Train was in the factory-sealed box.

I verified with Grzyboski's Trains that the item was never opened at their store,  It was as packaged by China.  Grzyboski's is going to check their other 2027260 Union Pacific Excursion Vista Vision cars to verify that they are correct.

If you are a collector who buys and sets the item aside, you may want to inspect everything as it arrives from now on.  A factory-sealed box isn't worth much if the wrong item is in it.

Sincerely, John Rowlen

The "Kenefick Business/Observation car sent in the 2027260 box as a factory error is going back to Joe at Grzyboski's Trains.  He has not had time yet to check his other two 2027260 Union Pacific Vista Vision Camera Dome cars.

Financially, The Vista Vision Camera costs the dealer more.  Lionel's Dealer return policy may demand that the car goes back to Lionel.

The purpose of this Post is to remind people to "Check these Vista Vision cars when they arrive."

Sincerely, John Rowlen

I respect your decision to send it back. Seems like there is a demand for the car in the secondary market whilst potentially 2 more theater cars from the dealer. While the theater car costs more, I find there is a premium on cars received that are not broken. I have had 4 obs cars arrive with broken parts. Wish everyone luck in receiving their cars!

I want to remind people that the "Lone Star" Business/Observation Car is in the 2027240 2-pack with the "Harriman" Dome Observation with EOT Lights.  Both cars have End-of-Train lights.

The "Kenefick" Business Car should only be found in the George HW Bush Funeral Train.

Have a good week.

Sincerely, John Rowlen

I'm dumbfounded by this. John, you must have the most incredible bad luck of any Lionel customer. Or maybe you just get, er, a much bigger sample of their products than the rest of us. Either way, I am still speechless.

One mans bad luck would be like winning the lottery for others. The Kenefick is only car I really wanted from this last run but didn't want to buy the whole set to get it. Given the interest in the single car I don't think I am the only one.

I am glad that everyone is receiving the correct Colorado Eagle Vista Vision Camera Car in their 2027260 shipping cartons.  I have purchased many Lionel products over the past five years and that has increased my odds of shipping and other unusual occurrences, like receiving the "Kenefick" Business Car.

I purchased the Alaska, Pennsylvania, Union Pacific Excursion and the Union Pacific Challenger Vista Vision Camera cars.  The Alaska car has been detailed with painted seats and Preiser 65602 Unpainted Seated People that I painted.

I was going to detail the UP Excursion next when I discovered the wrong car in the box, but  I will start the Pennsylvania "Catenary View" instead.  I am waiting for the arrival of the UP Challenger car that I ordered from Gryzbowski's Trains on Monday.

Tomorrow I will buy a few lottery tickets. Thank you for the suggestion.

Sincerely, John Rowlen

Yes, that's a better way of looking at it than mine! I also only wanted a business car but sprang for the two car set including Lone Star.

Maybe Lionel will see this post and realize there is a demand for the "Kenefick" Business Car and the "City of Portland" Dome Dining Car and create a 2-pack without Little People in the next catalog.  The Dome Dining Car with tables in the Dome and on the main floor is only available in the George HW Bush Funeral Train as an "Excursion" passenger car.  There is a Dome Dining Car in the "Challenger" 2-pack #3.

Yes, I agree that there would be a market for that combo; I'd definitely be in for one. Like others I won't be induced to buy a whole set of four cars just to get one special car, but a pair of cars I can run to. While I can't really be optimistic about Lionel going down this road you never know (or, hope springs eternal).

The dome diner with tables in the dome is special and more prototypical than the original run of Excursion dome cars. I really wanted a dome diner and made a long project out of converting the City of San Francisco car for that purpose. I did not get the same accuracy as Lionel's interior shown in your first photo and ended up with a fantasy scheme but with lights installed in the dome (ceiling and at floor level) it is a kind of Christmas ornament.
