Thanks so much for the compliments. I think I did a lot with limited space: only a half basement playroom and adjacent modest size laundery room to work with. Major event was to tunnel thru the thin wall so trains would leave playroom, run around three walls in the laundery room and return to the playroom and run around 3 walls in there. It was important to me for the trains to go somewhere.
Caution: Don't build a layout like mine unless you have an understanding wife like mine! Look at my videos closely and you will notice trains running along and behind the washer dryer beneath the green felt blanket on top of them. Many wives would file for divorce or at least attack you with a rolling pin (like in the cartoons we saw on TV when we were kids) if you built a layout like mine that crowded her a little in the laundery room. Incidentally, though not involved, my wife feels that if her husband is playing with his trains in the basement, he's not doing other much more objectionable things at other places.
One of the best features of my layout is not shown on the videos because I was alone when I made the videos. I can do a lot of switching operations at an interchange between the 2 main lines (in the center of the layout near the double line signal bridge and semaphore) and on the 9 sidings, most of which are long enough to hold parked engines with 4 to 9 cars. I need a train buddy with me to take the videos while I do the switching operations, run the accessories and uncouple and couple cars using the postwar remote control tracks. Any volunteers?
It is so true that a layout is never finished and never big enough. I have ideas to improve mine that I will share another time.
