What is the best and easiest way to clean pickup rollers? Is there a "rule of thumb" for how often they should be cleaned? Thanks, Paul

I clean them when I clean the wheels. A small wire brush in a Dremel tool works wonders. Use a light pressure, do not bend the brush wires. Be sure to oil the pickup bearings.

Alcohol and a Q-Tip. I never use power tools to clean rollers or wheels.
Thanks all of you for your help.
A quick rub of the rollers with paper towel piece moistened with alcohol will tell if time to clean. If you let wheels go to long you have to scrape the compressed gunk off them with a flat head screw driver. Best to clean often; then it is easy. Legacy engines will let you know if overdue for clining. Flickering lights or stopping at slow speads is a sure sign you wated too long.
Ditto. Works well for us. Also use toothpicks to pick off the caked crud after putting some isopropal alcohol on it.

What I do with rollers is spray them with CRC electrical contact cleaner. I make sure to get the spray inside the roller too and flush until it runs clear. If its a roller that hasn't been run in a long time and looks corroded, I use the wire wheel on the dremel followed by the CRC. Try to avoid getting any on painted surfaces. Spray in a direction away from the frame. It may streak paint.

Be careful with alcohol (or any other solvent), it does take off some paint. Don't ask me how I know...
