Wow. That is very unique. what an effect it could have over a layout.

OK, VERY cool, I'd love one, but at $3,360 each I don't see it happening.
Perhaps I'll make my own...
Seems a bit expensive.
It has motion detection, remote control and Bluetooth to play your music on to bump up the price.
Still seems a bit high for the function.

In my area, stick-up motion detection lights are advertised heavily on TV for something like 2/$10 plus shipping - The Light Angel. I think batteries are included.
How cool to play the sounds of a thunder storm on the Bluetooth.

I would love to see someones layout with those added, unfortunately at that price it will never be my layout.
Pretty neat; pretty expensive.
This particular set-up is pretty realistic, but it is not the first time it has been done and on a much reduced price tag....but still pretty neat. Here is one of Eric Siegel's You Tube videos of club member, Bill Dischinger's layout , Sugar Creek Valley Railroad....one of OGR's Great Layout Adventures....and you will see that Bill created his own clouds with LED lights within to give the appearance of cloud to cloud lightning.

This gives a totally new definition to a "cloud". I think it is very cool. It makes me think of scale rail Don's previous layout for which he did a marvelous video of rain and a thunderstorm. WOW, would his cloud have been impressive in that video.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

YEP!! Some cheap LED lighting and some work.......only about $3,350 less. You are buying ART.....I don't need art......but a cool idea.
You are buying ART.
Art?
So THIS is what the weather channel was telling us to be wary of along the coast this weekend?
OTOH.... Arrived home late the other night. I could've sworn I saw this hanging over the spouse, putting on quite a light show!!
ITT Products has a neat 60-sec sound module, HQ500, entitled succinctly "Thunder". Just the thing to bury in this wad of cotton, complementing the light show!
Now, if only it could move about, too! Hmmmmm......
Maybe sequence it with a Van De Graaf generator as it passes over a spot on the layout...for that 'bolt to jolt'
Oh the possibilities, the possibilities!!!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

What are you guys talking about the "dumb" cloud version is only $960.00. At that ludicrously low price sign me for a dozen or so
Ya, the dumb version is a just that, no flicker, no flash, no sound.
Just a wad of cotton balls stuck to a "powerful Phillips dimmable led" on a wire.
All for a low low $960.
It would appear to be similar in technology/technique to the Christmas lights that were popular synched to TSO music. It would seem that the idea could be within our financial reach if this is the case. On a smaller scale of course.
My first visit to Captain John's in Rhode Island, I noticed his innovative cloud idea. The panels over his fluorescent lights..less expensive, no sound, and VERY nice.
assuming the clouds are made of something like a giant cotton ball, these would seem to be a bit difficult to clean.
It looks a bit like Moya from far- scape.

Years ago I made a halloween creature out of spray foam. I sprayed it over a form and then removed the form. I placed a light inside the head and it glowed. Though it was a creatures head, it looked like a cloud and is possible to give it another try. the price was right.
C'mon Lee, oh technomaster, (uttered with admiration and affection) design a low cost prototype for the rest of us!! I LIKE the idea.
