I wonder if anyone can offer information on converting MTH subway car trucks from 3-r to 2-r operation for scale use. I'd appreciate any suggestions or help in this regard. Thank you.

I believe they use the "trapped" axle trucks. So swapping out the wheels can be tough. You would need to make up some wiper assemblies to pick up power as well.
I believe Joe F at Baldwin Forge & Machine maybe able to help you if they're not all booked up!

I will be glad to. Give me a few days to get it together. I use QCar trucks and motors. Go to the New York City Model Transit Association's web site and QCar's site in the mean time.
Thank you, Nate. I look forward to any information that you can provide. I will look into the other sources you mentioned.
Bob,Go to the Q Car co site. Look under information . There you will find detailed information and photos to show you how. He has many versions of side frames for subway, elevated and trolley cars.
You will have to replace the MTH trucks. They are way too big for scale. Joe Frank modified some MTH truck frames to reduce the size but that was a lot of work. As you will need trucks , bolsters, wheel sets with axles and side frames it is easier to purchase the trucks complete.
If you go on eBay you may find 2rail Oscale power trucks. I see them quite often.
