You have been busy regardless of the weather, do you have a tinplate when cutting the parts out to mass produce like this or is it the old fashion way with a ruler.  Nick 

Please do share your tips and techniques!   How do you do these so fast, yet so precise? 

I am sure that a how to article in OGR would be of great interest to readers even if they don't intend to ever scratchbuild a caboose.

I use these! Strictly the old fashioned way. I have thought of resin but I also know I am not good with that medium.

All those IC cabooses, and I bet none are that version with cargo door....I don't keep bandaids handy, but might, because, coincidentally, I jabbed my thumb good with one of those pointed Xacto knives while cutting "logs" from these danged bamboo stakes two days ago.

Wow - that is an amazing amount of work.  My fingertips would be completely numb from that much knife work!  A tip of the hat to you sir!

Have you ever thought of laser cutting those???

I use a 25 watt 12x18 machine to do most of my cutting. It's the only way I can get accurate cuts repeatedly!!

Sone of my projects.....

I use it to make my 'parts' to which I add parts cut by hand.

Unique caboose there - looking forward to seeing how you curl that roof shape around...

Malcolm, I should have told you in the prior post, I have the 3 Milwaukee Road books put out by the Milwaukee Road Historical Association on the caboose. One on the rib-side, one on steel cabooses and one on wooden cabooses. Looking at yours and looking at the colored pictures in the book....you nailed it!

McQ, This is all can find right now, a scan of an old photo. I built this one about 8 yrs ago.
