Could someone tell me the distance between adjacent  tracks needed when installing the Crescent Locomotive Works Cinder Hoist? I would like to have a track next to the shoot side of the cinder hoist for loading gondolas. The shoot was broken when the cinder hoist arrived, but I think I can put it back together.

Thanks for your help.

Dewey and Roger,

Thanks for the information.

Roger, after I saw the cinder hoist on your layout back in March I had to have one on my layout too. As I mentioned my hoist arrived broken. Could you send me some close up pictures of the shoot so I can figure out how to put mine back together? I have attached a photo of my broken shoot.

And finally Roger, I forgot you were a Frisco Fan.

My wives relatives live in Tulsa. I have been out to see 4500 many times.

Thanks for your help with the cinder hoist.

Richard....

I am sorry that I did not get back to you when you emailed me about this a couple or so weeks ago!!  Anyway, as I had told you, I don't have mine installed yet and can't find the template but I did go up and take a few pictures just now and hopefully these will help you put yours back together...if you right click on a picture and then click on "open link in new window", you will get a full page detailed view.

Thanks Alan,

This helps, but I still have questions.

1. There are two small pieces of wood attached to the rod at the top of the shoot. Can you  show me how thay are attached? It looks as if these two pieces of wood need to be glued to the top of the shoot on the hoist.

2. Could you post a picture of the front of the shoot facing the camera?  I need to see how to re attach the piece of wood with the cable on it to the front of the shoot.

I appreciate you taking the time to post the pictures. If you can not find your template for cutting the hole let me know and I will send you mine after I finish installing the hoist

It is late, I will look at this tomorrow afternoon

Richard

Alan,

Perfect.

I needed to see how the front of the shoot - the part attached to the cable hanging on my hoist is attached to the front of the shoot assembly.

It appears to me that the two peices of wood on the wire at the top of the shoot will need to be glued to the each side of the area where the bucket dumps into the shoot.

To tell you the truth I should have just sent it back to Crescent, but it took them two months and a few emails to get the cinder hoist to me.

It is a nice model. I may be ordering a right hand Ross #4 switch in order to add a short track for parking a gondola under the shoot.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Richard

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Looks like Alan took care of you. David makes great items,....but a one man shop takes longer to get quality items out.

Have David e-mail you the template for the tracks.

Well worth the wait...I am sure that David would have replaced your unit free, but I understand what you said above.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

David is as good as you can get.....but very, very slow. Hang in there, you will love what he does.  The photos below shows a custom building that he built for me and his prices and quality are outstanding.

Alan,

Rodger,

Well I am almost there. Please look at these pictures of the back of the shoot. The rod on Alan's hoist does not appear to protrude outside of the shoot like the rod on my shoot.

Finally look at the notch on the bottom of the two wood pieces on the rod. It looks as if they fit over studs on each side of the floor of the portion of the shoot on the tower.
