Last week, two CSX trains were spotted crossing the Occoquan River Bridge with single engines at or 3 cars from the rear. Never saw distributed power on this portion of ex RF&P in the 10 years I've moored just downstream from the Bridge. New procedure?

They've gotten really hot in the last couple of months to make DPU's a thing on CSX. Almost every road train that uses the RF&P sub is now DPU with a couple of exceptions.
The Q031 and Q032 have been DPU since last year, usually 1x1. Then they implemented them on several other freights with no class or training on how to run a DPU train. Enough people complained that we finally got allowed a class on DPU, to which labor relations denied our claim to be compensated for attending the mandatory class...
Thanks. I hadn't noticed them until last week, and I'm down at the boat several times a week. Sounds like you run on this line.
