Hello All!

We have been attempting to load soundfiles into a PS3 upgrade kit with the usual equipment.  When running into difficulty we were advised to use DC power, no joy.  We tried various other combinations of TIU/Computer/Power and finally got the board(s) programmed.  Whew!

We have almost all the proper functions for the engine, however, (there's always an "however" ) we do not have an interior light.  Called MTH Tech Support and they tell us there should be an interior light for the engine/soundfile we are using.

Their advice was to use the DCS Commander, but, (sigh) David being David, he did not ask how they were using it.  I see that Barry responded to this thread that files can be loaded with this unit.

1) Does this apply to the new PS3 systems?

2) Does the process mirror that of using the TIU?

Thanks.

I do not see how that makes a difference if the sound file loaded correctly.  Are you using the PS-3 test set to see no interior light?  It really is just a source of Filtered DC power.  You can't load sound files without the TIU and if you have the TIU, you have all you need to test and reset the board.   G

Cheryl,

The MTH tech said they use the Commander because it puts out DC power, but how the use it was not stated.

You would simply connect the PC to the DCS Commander's serial port and power the track with the output of the DCS Commander while doing the sound file load. The DCS Commander would take the place of the TIU.

Have you looked for an Interior Light (LIN) soft key? It maybe in the list under the More... soft key.

Ya know, I have, and it's not there.  That's why the tech said we should reload the files.

I thought maybe the process might be such, but wanted to see if that was true.  Have never used the commander in this way.  Have upgraded it to 1.4 however.

Thanks.

Barry,  DCS Commander can not load Sound Files.  I believe they only use it for the Filtered DC power.  Still use a TIU.  G
